Italian artist Lucio Schiavon created this series of illustrations for the stage set of “Around the World in 80 Days” at the Goldoni Theatre in Venice, Italy. Schiavon has also collaborated with director Enzo D’Alo and artist Lorenzo Mattotti for the backgrounds of the animated feature “Pinocchio” in 2011. Schivaon’s work updates conventional settings– making them into strangely beautiful contemporary landscapes. He is able to create new worlds that reflect reality yet distort it into simple colorful shapes. He uses color brilliantly in order to capture and emphasize the moods of the scenes. His work on this set helped to update the classic story by refreshing the world with his unique style, attention, and color.
